Will hand sanitiser be available on board P&O Ferries ships?

All of our ships have multiple hand washing facilities in public toilets located near the bars, restaurants and coffee shops. As well as this, all P&O ships offer ‘hand hygiene stations’ located in convenient places on deck. Dispensing a high quality hygiene gel, our hand hygiene stations are free to use and members of staff can help direct you to the nearest station.

Will surfaces be cleaned regularly on P&O Ferries ships?

Our staff clean high contact areas regularly using high quality sanitisers and disinfecting chemicals approved by European standards. This includes everything from door handles and light switches, to table tops and the bar front. Not only will this help to safeguard against coronavirus (COVID-19) but it will also keep the ship fresh and clean throughout your journey.

Will public areas be ventilated on board?

We will ventilate all of our ships with 100% fresh air when possible. Good ventilation can help to prevent the spread of coronavirus, as it maintains a steady flow of clean air throughout the journey.

Will customers be checked for coronavirus symptoms before boarding?

All travellers are asked to check themselves for coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms (a fever, a continuous cough, loss or change or taste/smell) before boarding a P&O Ferries service. If a traveller is suspected to be showing signs or symptoms of coronavirus, they will be asked to return home and contact the health authorities to undertake a medical test.

What if I feel poorly on board a P&O Ferries ship?

Do not travel if you suspect you have symptoms, however mild they may be. However, if you do happen to feel poorly during your travels, we have identified isolation areas on board all of our ships, should they be required.

What food safety precautions have been taken on P&O Ferries ships?

You’ll notice that no unwrapped food will be available on our ships (e.g. unwrapped sugar cubes.) As well as this, our food suppliers have been subject to independent assessment to ensure they meet the highest food hygiene and safety standards.

Our chefs and food servers receive formal, independently accredited food safety training, as well as regular training updates and knowledge assessments. All P&O Ferries ships are independently inspected by the UK and European food safety inspectors and all possess the maximum 5 stars under the UK food hygiene rating scheme.

How can I keep myself safe when travelling with P&O Ferries?

  1. We kindly ask that travellers continue to wear a face mask during your journey with P&O Ferries.

  2. Take time to read our posters on board highlighting the best hygiene practises during your travels.

  3. Remember to wash your hands regularly and dry thoroughly.

  4. Use tissues to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze and dispose of used tissues immediately.

  5. Remember to practise social distancing on board your ferry, staying at least one metre away from other passengers.

  6. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth (unless you’ve just washed your hands).

What if I had to cancel my P&O Ferries booking due to coronavirus (COVID-19)?

We’re offering a credit refund if you have to cancel your booking with P&O Ferries during the coronavirus lockdown. This can be redeemed for future travel up until 30th September 2022. For all future bookings, you can rest assured that we are waiving all cancellation fees, so you can Book with Confidence.
